About the position

The Scrub Nurse at Cameron Memorial Community Hospital is responsible for providing direct patient care in the surgical department. This role involves preparing the surgical suite, assisting during operative procedures, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies and quality assurance standards. The Scrub Nurse plays a critical role in maintaining sterile techniques and supporting the surgical team to facilitate successful patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Perform essential functions of clinical Nurse staff related to direct patient care based on unit needs.
• Ensure accurate and timely delivery and documentation of patient care, including acknowledgment of physician's orders and administration of treatments.
• Develop patient education plans and prepare discharge and care plan objectives.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and quality assurance standards.
• Serve as a clinical resource to staff members and assist with daily tasks, decision making, and problem solving.
• Check supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.
• Assist in preparing the surgical room and set up sterile tables with instruments and supplies.
• Perform appropriate counts with the circulator prior to the operation and before incision closure.
• Maintain the highest standard of sterile technique during procedures.
• Prepare sterile dressings and clean instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Assist with end of case cleaning and terminal cleaning of surgery and endoscopy rooms.
• Fulfill on-call requirements and perform circulating duties as needed.
• Assist the physician during endoscopy procedures and follow written policies for decontamination.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program as a LPN or RN.
• Current LPN or RN license in Indiana.
• Current BLS - Healthcare Provider certification within 3 months of hire.
• Prior hospital nursing role preferred but not required.

Nice-to-haves
