About the position

As a Senior Scrum Master, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of multiple simultaneous fast-paced projects with distributed teams. Your role will involve designing and maintaining the project vision, working standards, and agreements to ensure that all team members are aligned and working towards common goals. You will develop comprehensive project roadmaps, release plans, resource allocations, funding requests, communication plans, and risk management strategies. Your expertise in Agile methodologies will be crucial as you implement these practices using tools such as Rally and Planview. In this position, you will manage project scope, budget, and project burn charts, while also preparing presentations for IT and business stakeholders. You will facilitate all Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, backlog grooming, and retrospective sessions, ensuring that all meetings are productive and focused on project objectives. Your proactive communication style will be essential as you track and update project statuses, manage change requests, and mitigate risks effectively. You will interface with project stakeholders at all levels of management, ensuring that project priorities align with business needs and expectations. Additionally, you will mentor and coach Agile teams to foster their adoption of Agile practices, acting as a liaison between business units and third-party vendors. Your role will also involve using business analysis techniques to gather and document complex requirements, ensuring that all project documentation and deliverables are clearly defined and delivered on time.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all aspects of multiple simultaneous fast-paced assigned projects with distributed teams.
  • Design and maintain project vision, project working standards, and agreements.
  • Develop project roadmap, release plan, resource allocation, funding request, communication plan, risks and issues management plan, test plan, and defect management plan.
  • Manage project scope, budget, project burn charts, presentations to IT/Business, daily standup, agile ceremonies, backlog grooming, and retrospective sessions.
  • Implement Agile methodology using Rally and Planview tools.
  • Facilitate project meetings including all Agile meetings - Discovery Sessions, Iteration 0, Iteration Planning, Demo & Retrospective, Daily Stand-up, Backlog Grooming.
  • Track, update, and communicate project status proactively as it relates to project progress, budget/cost, resource utilization, change requests, issues, risks, and risk mitigation plans.
  • Interface with project stakeholders at all levels of management to ensure project priorities are aligned with business needs and expectations.
  • Ensure that appropriate project documentation and deliverables are clearly defined and delivered.
  • Mentor and coach Agile teams to ensure their adoption and successful use of Agile practices.
  • Act as a liaison between business units and 3rd party vendors.
  • Use business analysis techniques for gathering and documenting complex requirements, scoping, interviewing, facilitation, system component design, testing, and implementation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training.
  • 3 years of progressive broad-based information systems and business experience.
  • 3 years of experience managing and delivering mission-critical, high-availability large and small IT development projects using structured project management and system development methodologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3 years of experience in Agile methods and mindset as an approach to software development.
  • 5 years of progressive broad-based information systems and business experience.
  • 5 years of experience managing and delivering mission-critical, high-availability large and small IT development projects using structured project management and system development methodologies, such as Agile/Scrum.
