About the position

We are seeking a seasoned Scrum Master with a proven track record of leading multiple concurrent Agile teams to success. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Scrum, SAFe, and Agile principles, and is eager to evolve into a Release Train Engineer (RTE) role. This individual will be instrumental in driving Agile transformation, coaching teams, and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. You will facilitate communication and collaboration between 3 scrum teams and the Product Managers, working to remove any obstacles or barriers to progress. You will also help the team maintain a sustainable pace of work, ensuring that tasks are properly prioritized and delivered within the agreed-upon timeframes. In this role, you will lead and coach the Scrum teams in using Agile methodology, facilitate Agile ceremonies, remove impediments, coach teams, and foster a collaborative environment. You will apply SAFe principles and practices to coordinate and align multiple Agile teams within a Release Train. Mentoring and developing team members, building strong relationships with Product Owners and stakeholders will be key responsibilities. You will identify opportunities for process improvement and drive change initiatives, contributing to the development of the product roadmap and strategy. Demonstrating a strong understanding of RTE responsibilities, you will actively seek opportunities to develop RTE skills. You will lead the Scrum and development teams in self-organization, remove impediments, and promote an environment for high-performing team dynamics, continuous flow, and continuous improvement. Helping the Scrum team achieve higher levels of Scrum maturity by increasing independence and personal responsibility will be essential. You will manage and communicate dependencies with other teams, support in internalizing the SAFe core values, and implement the SAFe principles and practices. Working closely with Product Owners and stakeholders, you will ensure the product backlog is well-defined, prioritized, and ready for the next sprint, assisting in backlog grooming sessions to refine and prioritize user stories and acceptance criteria. Additionally, you will contribute to the development and management of an Agile Center of Excellence and perform other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience as a Scrum Master, including some experience leading multiple agile teams
  • Strong understanding of SAFe principles and practices
  • Experience with Agile frameworks and methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, XP)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to coach and mentor teams
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience with Agile project management tools
  • Certified Scrum Master
  • Experience building roadmaps, project/release plans with a strong understanding of dependency management

Nice-to-haves

  • SAFe certifications (SSM, PSM, SAFe Agilist) preferred
  • Experience in RTE role or RTE certification
  • Experience with Lean Portfolio Management (LPM)
  • Experience working for federal clients
