About the position

The Senior Scrum Master position in Asset Management is a mid-senior level role focused on supporting the Trading domain. The ideal candidate will be local to Boston and possess trading experience, particularly with CRD. This role requires a minimum of 6 years of experience in an asset management company and the ability to communicate effectively with complex personalities and senior leadership. The Scrum Master will practice and promote an Agile mindset, coaching and mentoring teams on Agile principles, values, and practices while exemplifying the company's leadership behaviors. In this role, the Scrum Master will independently lead the application of Agile practices, such as Scrum or Kanban, across multiple teams. Responsibilities include visualizing work, managing workflow, and facilitating daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospective meetings. The Scrum Master will enable progress toward objectives, KPIs, and commitments, guiding Agile teams in delivering product increments and outcomes. They will also identify opportunities for improving team-level Agile performance, focusing on customer value, quality, and continuous improvement. The Scrum Master will be responsible for removing impediments, resolving conflicts, and anticipating challenges while recommending mitigations and solutions. They will facilitate open communication among team members and stakeholders, promoting positive team dynamics to ensure effective collaboration. Building alliances across teams and the technical and business communities is essential, as is partnering with leadership on scaled planning activities and leading scale ceremonies. The Scrum Master will also participate in the Agile Community and contribute to increasing the overall Agile maturity of teams, supporting higher complexity work towards successful outcomes. Additionally, they may take on a scrum-of-scrum role, managing the flow of work across an entire domain rather than just individual teams.

Responsibilities

  • Practice and encourage Agile mindset and behaviors; coach, inspire and mentor teams on Agile principles, values, and practices.
  • Independently lead the application of Agile practices (Scrum or Kanban) for multiple teams.
  • Enable progress toward objectives, KPIs and commitments; guide assigned Agile teams in delivering the required product increments and outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve team-level Agile performance; focus teams on customer value, quality, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Remove team-level impediments and resolve conflicts; anticipate challenges, identify risks, and recommend mitigations and solutions.
  • Utilize learnings and best practices in furthering the effective use of Agile practices.
  • Facilitate open communication among team members and stakeholders; promote positive team dynamics to ensure members collaborate and work effectively.
  • Build and leverage effective alliances across other teams and the technical and business communities.
  • Partner with leadership on scaled planning activities, organizing, and leading scale ceremonies.
  • Participate and actively contribute to the Agile Community.
  • Increase the overall Agile maturity for teams and support higher complexity work towards successful outcomes.
  • Support Agile team(s) that have various levels of agile maturity; actively work to upskill those teams in agile practices and increase their overall agile maturity.
  • May also play a scrum-of-scrum role, managing the flow of work through an entire domain rather than on an individual team or teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Three years experience in a Scrum Master or similar Agile role applying Agile principles and practices including delivery of several epics, releases and versions and application of a wide variety of patterns and techniques.
  • Programming/development experience preferred.
  • Experience implementing best practices and standards related to Agile product development preferred.
  • Experience leading others with the ability to earn trust while still challenging the team to improve and operate outside its comfort zone in an Agile environment preferred.
  • Ability to initiate, plan, execute, and guide the work of a team to achieve specific goals and meet specific success criteria within a specified time.
  • Ability to influence leaders at all levels and without traditional hierarchy.
  • Foster an environment where individuals thrive as empowered and equal members of a team.
  • Ability to communicate thoughts, concepts, and practices effectively at all levels, adjusting as needed to a target audience.
  • Expertise working with others in a cross-functional multi-team environment.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continually improve, share learning with others and encourage team development.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Agile methodologies and frameworks beyond Scrum and Kanban.
  • Knowledge of asset management and trading processes.
  • Familiarity with tools used for Agile project management.
