About the position

Davidson is seeking a Scrum Master in Colorado Springs, CO, to play a crucial role in a fast-paced and innovative program focused on developing software for the Sentinel program. This position requires collaboration with a cross-functional team of skilled professionals in Software Engineering and System Engineering. The Scrum Master will be integral in facilitating the Agile development lifecycle, ensuring that all team members can experiment with innovative theories and concepts to expand the realm of the possible. The role emphasizes self-organization, consensus-building, and effective communication through various methods, including diagramming and whiteboarding. The Scrum Master will primarily focus on applying Agile principles and practices to meet the customers' emerging mission needs. Acting as a 'servant leader,' the Scrum Master will help the team work effectively to deliver maximum value. Responsibilities include facilitating team ceremonies such as Sprint Planning, Review, and Retrospective, enhancing sprint productivity, and empowering the team to self-organize. The Scrum Master will also support the team in identifying and removing impediments, drive continuous improvement, and assist with internal and external communication to improve transparency. In this role, the Scrum Master will collaborate with other Scrum Masters and Product Owners to ensure alignment and effective delivery of high-quality products. The position requires a proactive approach to coaching and mentoring team members to improve performance and achieve goals, making it essential for the Scrum Master to have a strong understanding of Agile methodologies and a commitment to fostering a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate team ceremonies such as Sprint Planning, Review, and Retrospective.
  • Enhance sprint productivity.
  • Act as a servant-leader and facilitator to support teams in their agile practices.
  • Empower the team to self-organize and take collective responsibility for delivering high-quality products.
  • Facilitate planning program increments.
  • Support the team in identifying, addressing, and removing impediments to goals.
  • Drive sustainable continuous improvement by collating and deriving insights from data.
  • Assist with internal and external communication to improve transparency and visibility of information.
  • Support teams or individuals to improve performance and achieve goals through coaching and mentoring.
  • Collaborate with other Scrum Masters and Product Owners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related field from an accredited college or university.
  • 2 years of experience as a Scrum Master.
  • 3-5 years of experience in an Agile environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of Agile principles, practices, and methods (particularly Scrum).
  • Practical experience of servant-leadership in Agile teams.
  • Excellent organizational and facilitation skills.
  • Self-starting mentality and willingness to take ownership of difficult challenges.
  • Desire to drive change and create innovative solutions.
  • Experience with modern agile project management tools (Jira, Gitlab or similar).

Nice-to-haves

  • Background in software development or software development management.
  • Knowledge of system engineering principles.
  • Experience with operational weapon software systems.
  • PMI-ACP Certification or Certified Scrum Master (CSM).
  • SAFe certification: SAFe Scrum Master or SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE).
