About the position

Marriott International is seeking a Scrum Master for the Software Engineering - Data Platforms team. This role focuses on building a next-generation cloud-based data and API platform, ensuring timely delivery of data projects and products while meeting organizational expectations. The Scrum Master will lead and coordinate activities related to data technology projects, manage a team, and ensure alignment with business objectives.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates and supports all scrum events: Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Refinement, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective.
• Ensures Scrum is understood and the team adheres to Scrum theory, practice, and guidelines.
• Contributes to the advancement and improvement of Agile practices within the organization.
• Acts as servant leader of the Agile Team and directs the initiative delivery team.
• Partners with Product Managers to maintain plans and communicate progress of the team, including product roadmaps and project status reporting.
• Proactively identifies impediments and resolves them using a network of peers or escalation if needed.
• Guides and coaches the Scrum Team on Lean and Agile practices to deliver high-quality products and services.
• Resolves team impediments with other Scrum Masters to increase the effectiveness of Scrum in the organization.
• Works with product owners to handle backlogs and new requests.
• Optimizes team performance by recognizing areas of strength and improvement and employing appropriate coaching techniques.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree, equivalent experience, or certification.
• 7+ years' experience in applying Agile and Scrum principles within teams and/or organizations.
• 7+ years planning and problem solving with product management and delivery teams.
• 7+ years experience working within agile framework or method (e.g., SAFe, Scrum, Kanban).
• 5+ years creating and delivering presentations, PowerPoint decks, and project plans.
• 2+ years working with tools such as Atlassian (JIRA/Confluence), Clarity, and/or Cloud-based platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).

Nice-to-haves

• Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), or PMI's Agile Certified Professional (ACP).
• SAFe certified - SAFe Agilist or SAFe Scrum Master.
• Servant leadership experience as Scrum Master on an Agile Release Train.
• Familiarity with product/project development experience on Agile Teams in a technology-focused organization.
