About the position

The Scrum Master III is a servant leader for the team adopting a holistic approach to work and promotes a sense of community. The Scrum Master coaches the team on agile principles and practices, advocating for the team and assisting with continuous improvement to achieve greater effectiveness, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. This role requires a skilled individual who can navigate complex situations involving multiple teams and work across functional areas while coaching executive leaders. The Scrum Master should possess knowledge of how to scale agile methodologies and help both the team and leadership adopt these practices. Additionally, the Scrum Master will provide mentoring to other Scrum Masters and actively participate in team development. Strong leadership skills are essential, as the Scrum Master will be expected to be forward-thinking, self-motivated, and capable of joining a diverse, highly talented team that continuously strives for excellence. In terms of responsibilities, the Scrum Master will support Scrum scaling and coaching, demonstrating knowledge in scaling agile to assist large complex platforms and products in adopting agile principles and practices. They will act as a teacher, coach, mentor, facilitator, and change agent, influencing agility among those interacting with the Agile team, including direct management. The Scrum Master will guide the Scrum Team's focus on creating high-value increments that meet the Definition of Done, remove impediments to the Scrum Team's progress, and ensure that all Scrum events are positive, productive, and kept within the timebox. They will shield the team from external influences and guide them on using agile values, principles, and framework practices to delight customers while contributing to a culture of trust, respect, simplicity, courage, transparency, and agility. The Scrum Master will also help find techniques for effective Product Goal definition and Product Backlog management, ensuring the Scrum Team understands the need for clear and concise Product Backlog items. They will establish empirical product planning for a complex environment, assess the agile health of the team, and coach them to higher levels of fluency at a sustainable pace. The Scrum Master embodies agile behaviors and practices, exhibiting an innovative attitude and an aptitude for embracing change and improving team practices and processes daily. Furthermore, they will oversee the scrum process, coach the team, and facilitate a transparent and adaptive culture. In terms of communication and collaboration, the Scrum Master will ensure coordination across multiple teams to deliver high value to the customer. They will facilitate discussions, decision-making, conflict resolution, and continuous improvement while building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of punishment. The Scrum Master will build effective partnerships with the Product Owner, providing mentoring and support, especially regarding refining and managing the product backlog and release planning, aligning delivery expectations with all stakeholders, and coordinating with Project Management. Participation in the Scrum of Scrums is also expected.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or a high school diploma/GED with 12 years of progressive relevant experience.
  • 6 years of relevant experience in a related field.
  • 5 years' experience as a Scrum Master.
  • 5 years' experience delivering products in a leadership or project team role.
  • 3 years' experience in a large-scale multi-team environment.
