About the position

Moseley Technical Services, Inc. is seeking an Embedded Linux/RTOS Scrum Master to join our team in Sterling Heights, Michigan. This contract position is integral to supporting the global leader in the design, development, production, support, and sustainment of tracked and wheeled military equipment. As a Scrum Master, you will play a crucial role in guiding the Scrum Team to utilize Agile practices and principles effectively, ensuring the delivery of high-quality products and services to our customers. Your leadership will help the team reach a high-performing level by identifying strengths and areas for improvement, employing appropriate coaching and development techniques. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that Scrum is understood and adhered to by the team, coaching them in self-organization, cross-functional skillsets, and effective communication. You will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders to influence decision-making and support organizational project or product teams. Additionally, you will resolve team impediments in collaboration with other Scrum Masters to enhance the effectiveness of Scrum application within the organization. Your responsibilities will also include facilitating all Scrum events such as Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective. You will act as a leader who supports Agile teams primarily engaged in Business as Usual (BAU) work, while also contributing to important departmental initiatives and corporate projects. Furthermore, you will be involved in technical tasks such as loading components with software images, building and configuring embedded operating systems like VxWorks and Linux, and performing Linux system programming tasks including driver development and hardware enablement. The position requires a proactive approach to managing individual priorities, deadlines, and deliverables, while also contributing to the advancement and improvement of Agile practices within the organization. You will be expected to bring continuous improvement processes and methodologies to the position, ensuring that the team operates efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support for vehicle electronic system.
  • Guide the Scrum Team on how to use Agile practices and principles to deliver high quality products and services to our customers.
  • Get team to a high performing level by recognizing areas of strength and improvement, employing appropriate coaching and development techniques.
  • Responsible for ensuring Scrum is understood and the team adheres to Scrum theory, practice, and guidelines.
  • Coach the Scrum team in self-organization, cross-functional skillset, domain knowledge and effective communication, both internally and externally.
  • Work with Scrum Team, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to influence and drive decision making and support organizational project or product teams.
  • Resolve team impediments with other Scrum Masters to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum in the organization.
  • Work with Agile coaches and other Scrum Masters to grow within the role.
  • Contribute to the advancement and improvement of Agile practices within the organization.
  • Facilitate and support all scrum events: Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective.
  • Act as a leader who coaches and supports Agile teams assigned to mainly Business as Usual (BAU) work and to a lesser degree, important department initiatives and applicable portions of corporate projects and initiatives.
  • Load components with software images in order to deploy official software releases in lab environments and vehicles.
  • Build and configure VxWorks, Linux, or other embedded operating systems.
  • Perform Linux system programming tasks, including driver development and new hardware enablement on embedded Linux systems.
  • Integrate various software into build systems.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software.
  • Enable embedded system security using cryptography and secure architectures.
  • Manage individual priorities, deadlines, deliverables.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering required.
  • 5-7 years relevant work experience.
  • 3+ years of Scrum Master Experience.
  • Ability to troubleshoot low level software issues and distinguish between hardware and software issues.
  • Capable of developing C and / or C++ code that can be maintained and updated over decades.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite applications.
  • Experience with Linux device drivers, bootloaders, memory maps or other system programming is a strong plus.
  • Experience with safety critical systems or real time systems is desirable.
  • Experience with one or more build environments such as Buildroot, OpenEmbedded, python or in particular Yocto.
  • Familiarity with self update strategies and popular open source self-updaters is a strong plus.
  • Experience with Eclipse, GIT, DOORs, Jira / Bitbucket / Confluence, gdb, or QT is a plus.
  • Experience with Agile, Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment concepts.
  • Familiarity with security features such as SELinux, verified boot and trusted execution environments is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to Obtain US Security Clearance.
  • Be a self-starter and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and able to work with all levels of the organization and across functions.
  • Organization skills due to the volume of tasks and projects and being able to align with tight deadlines and lead times.
  • Previous experience working on ground combat Vehicles desired.
