About the position

We are seeking an exceptional individual to serve as a Scrum Master, acting as a Servant Leader to lead a high-performing Agile team through a Scaled Agile transformation. In this role, you will exemplify leadership by managing the team while maintaining an authoritative bias. Your primary responsibility will be to act as a guardian of Agile methodologies, enabling the team to perform at its best. You will inspire, influence, and guide the team in adopting best practices of Agile development methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, Lean, TDD, BDD, and other technical agility practices. It is essential that the team's work aligns with the program's agreed design principles, engineering practices, governance, and quality standards. As a Scrum Master, you will mentor the team to become self-organized and take ownership of sprint goals and PI objectives. You will provide coaching and guidance as needed to enhance the team's capabilities and productivity. Reporting to the Global Agile Practice Director and aligned with an RTE of the Agile Release Train, you will have the authority to showcase, manage, and enhance your coaching competencies to build a performing team. You will train the team in Scrum, Built-in Quality, Kanban, and SAFe, ensuring adherence to the agreed Agile processes and practices. Your role will also involve creating and maintaining a psychologically safe environment that fosters team trust and embodies Lean Agile values. You will facilitate various Scrum activities and represent the team in all ART-level events for alignment. Coaching the team on Agile mindset, ways of working, and a culture of continuous improvement will be crucial. As a servant leader, you will remove roadblocks reported by the team, which may require cross-team collaboration or engagement with different leads. You will train, guide, and mentor the teams on Agile practices consistent with team standards, helping them achieve their commitments and objectives on a day-to-day basis and from sprint to sprint. Improving the Agile culture through gamification, Kaizen, Agile maturity assessments, and measuring team velocity and sprint success will be part of your responsibilities. Establishing strong working relationships with other teams across the organization to identify dependencies and align priorities and deliverables will be essential. You will create a clear mechanism or tool to report status, risks, and impediments, and create dashboards to maintain metrics at the team level as per standards defined by LACE. Anticipating challenges, identifying risks, and recommending mitigations and solutions will be part of your proactive approach. You will facilitate the team's backlog creation and run Scrum events, including inception workshops, user story mapping workshops, prioritization techniques, and estimations. Awareness of test and release automation practices will be necessary to guide the team effectively. Collaboration with product owners and stakeholders to ensure their engagement with the team and inclusion in the regular feedback loop will be vital. You will identify resource constraints or needs and lead continuous improvement efforts by implementing takeaways from retrospectives to enhance team efficiency and delivery success. Additionally, you will assist the team in improving engineering and automation practices, necessitating a solid understanding of software development processes, engineering practices, and procedures. Familiarity with Agile ALM tools and processes, particularly Jira or similar tools, will be required. Your focus will be on building high-performance teams through continuous learning and coaching, fostering a growth mindset among team members. Exceptional leadership, conflict handling, interpersonal communication, and investigative skills will be crucial for success in this role.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Scrum Master or in a similar role within Agile environments.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, Lean, TDD, and BDD.
  • Experience in coaching teams on Agile practices and principles.
  • Ability to facilitate Scrum events and manage team dynamics effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and trust.
  • Experience with Agile ALM tools, particularly Jira or similar tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to remove impediments for the team.
  • Knowledge of software development processes and engineering practices.
