About the position

The Scrum Master will provide hands-on guidance and support to teams, promoting Agile methodologies and increasing team maturity at a sustainable pace. This role involves close collaboration across functions, facilitating Scrum events, and mentoring team members to enhance their effectiveness in Agile practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on team guidance and support through close collaboration across all functions.
  • Partner with team members to identify and remove roadblocks through Persona development, story mapping, road mapping, and backlog management.
  • Conduct story sizing and task estimation.
  • Provide training to Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and Teams, including drafting and maintaining training materials and collecting feedback from training sessions.
  • Act as an advisor to teams by leading by example and challenging the status quo.
  • Help teams continuously improve by performing ongoing health-checks to enhance their effectiveness.
  • Partner with Product Owners to ensure that vision, roadmap, and personas are well-defined and understood.
  • Mentor Scrum Masters on facilitation and focusing teams on task completion.
  • Promote a culture of experimentation and innovation.
  • Foster teams' abilities to be self-directed.
  • Promote Change Management, including scaling Agile, release planning, and dependency management.
  • Conduct sprint events such as planning, stand-ups, refinement, reviews/demos, and retrospectives.

Requirements

  • BA/BS or equivalent work experience required.
  • Expert practitioner of Scrum and Lean Start Up.
  • Proven success coaching teams in adopting Agile methodologies.
  • Minimum of 4 years of real-world Scrum coaching experience, guiding at least two organizations through varied challenges of Scrum adoption.
  • Minimum of 4 years as a practicing Scrum Master.
  • Diverse change management experience across multiple organizations, teams, products, environments, and technologies.
  • Experience with approaches for scaling Agile (e.g., SAFe, LeSS).
  • Up-to-date expertise in the Agile space through ongoing education in Agile frameworks, training, conference attendance, user group participation, and self-study.
  • Working knowledge of Agile tools (e.g., Atlassian tools -- JIRA, Confluence).
  • Working knowledge of the fundamentals of software development processes and procedures.
  • Demonstrated self-growth through continuing education in Agile frameworks, training, conference attendance, user group participation, and self-study.
  • Coaching experience at a Fortune 500 organization.
  • Scrum Coach Certification (CSC).
