About the position

The Scrum Master II is responsible for facilitating Agile processes and ensuring effective collaboration between Product Owners and teams. This role focuses on coaching teams to enhance self-organization and cross-functionality, managing the Backlog to maximize ROI, and driving continuous improvement. The Scrum Master II will track team metrics and report progress to leadership, while also supporting business and IT leaders in adapting Agile practices for successful delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the Product Owner to review work requested by business stakeholders and set priorities for 2-3 sprints of refined work.
  • Facilitates Scrum events including Daily Standups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, Sprint Retrospective, and Backlog Refinement.
  • Coaches team(s) to become self-organizing and self-managing.
  • Shields the team from work requests and distractions outside of the sprint work.
  • Ensures goals, scope, and Product Backlog are fully understood by the team.
  • Supports the team by enacting and educating on Scrum theory and principles.
  • Fosters collaboration within the team and with stakeholders to build a cohesive environment.
  • Tracks team metrics such as Velocity, Burndown charts, and Cycle time for continuous improvement.
  • Manages relationships with stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for the team.
  • Continuously assesses and improves Scrum processes, tools, and techniques.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive understanding of Scrum principles, practices, and values.
  • Advanced knowledge of Agile methodologies and frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, XP, etc.
  • Advanced skills in coaching team members and mentoring other Scrum Masters.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills and critical thinking abilities.
  • High level of emotional intelligence to understand team dynamics and foster a positive environment.
  • Excellent coaching and mentoring abilities as a servant leader.
  • Strong issue resolution and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to influence various levels throughout the organization.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's degree or up to 3 years of college or technical school in Technology, Business, or related field.
  • Professional Scrum Master certification.
