About the position

The Scrum Master II at GM Financial plays a crucial role in guiding and coaching Scrum Teams to effectively apply agile values and principles. This position is focused on facilitating the Scrum Framework to enhance customer satisfaction while ensuring the development team is shielded from external disruptions. The Scrum Master will work closely with the Product Owner to prioritize the product backlog and will be responsible for facilitating key Scrum events, promoting a self-organized team environment, and supporting continuous improvement within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Guiding and coaching the Scrum Teams on agile values and principles.
  • Protecting the development team from outside influences and removing impediments.
  • Facilitating work completion without coercion or dictation.
  • Assisting with internal and external communication to improve transparency.
  • Supporting and educating the Product Owner in refining and ordering the product backlog.
  • Ensuring the product backlog is visible and prioritized towards business value.
  • Facilitating Scrum events such as Daily Scrum, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, and Sprint Retrospectives.
  • Conforming to all company policies and procedures.
  • Empowering the team to be self-organized.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of Agile frameworks including Scrum.
  • Certifications in Scrum Master Certification (CSM, PSM I) or PMI-ACP.
  • Demonstrated servant leadership mindset.
  • Proficient in Agile delivery tools such as TFS, Jira, or Azure DevOps.
  • Evidence of a continuous learning mindset.
  • High Emotional Intelligence including self-awareness and empathy.
  • Excellent people skills with an ability to understand diverse viewpoints.
  • Ability to teach and train on Agile, Scrum, and Kanban.
  • Good understanding of product and sprint backlog tracking, burn down metrics, and velocity.
  • Good negotiation, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to understand GM Financial's business and apply critical thinking.

Nice-to-haves
