About the position

The Scrum Master - III position in Miami, FL is a long-term contract role that requires a seasoned professional with 7-10 years of experience in Scrum methodologies. The primary focus of this role is to ensure that the Scrum Team fully understands the goals, scope, and product domain. The Scrum Master will be responsible for facilitating effective Product Backlog management and ensuring that the Product Owner is equipped to prioritize the backlog to maximize value. This position requires a deep understanding of product planning in an empirical environment and the ability to practice agility effectively. In this role, the Scrum Master will facilitate all Scrum events, including Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives. They will assist the product organization in refining user stories, ensuring that they are well-constructed and contain all necessary information. Coaching the Development Team in self-organization and cross-functionality is a key responsibility, as is helping them create high-value products. The Scrum Master will also work to remove any impediments that may hinder the Development Team's progress. Additionally, the Scrum Master will lead and coach the organization in its Scrum adoption, planning implementations, and helping employees and stakeholders understand and enact Scrum and empirical product development. They will work collaboratively with other Scrum Masters to enhance the overall effectiveness of Scrum practices within the organization, driving change that increases the productivity of the Scrum Team.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that goals, scope, and product domain are understood by everyone on the Scrum Team.
  • Finding techniques for effective Product Backlog management.
  • Helping the Scrum Team understand the need for clear and concise Product Backlog items.
  • Understanding product planning in an empirical environment.
  • Ensuring the Product Owner knows how to arrange the Product Backlog to maximize value.
  • Understanding and practicing agility.
  • Facilitating Scrum events as requested or needed.
  • Assisting the product organization refine the user stories to make sure they are constructed with all the required information.
  • Coaching the Development Team in self-organization and cross-functionality.
  • Helping the Development Team to create high-value products.
  • Removing impediments to the Development Team's progress.
  • Facilitating all team meetings, including the Daily Stand-up / Scrum, Grooming Session, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review / Demo, and Sprint Retrospective.
  • Leading and coaching the organization in its Scrum adoption.
  • Planning Scrum implementations within the organization.
  • Helping employees and stakeholders understand and enact Scrum and empirical product development.
  • Causing change that increases the productivity of the Scrum Team.
  • Working with other Scrum Masters to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum in the organization.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of experience as a Scrum Master or in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of Scrum methodologies and Agile principles.
  • Experience in facilitating Scrum events and coaching teams.
  • Ability to manage Product Backlog effectively and assist in user story refinement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification as a Scrum Master (CSM, PSM, etc.).
  • Experience with scaling Scrum in larger organizations.
  • Familiarity with tools such as JIRA or Trello for backlog management.
