About the position

The Scrum Master III at Beacon Hill Staffing Group, LLC is responsible for guiding and coaching teams in Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum practices. This role involves facilitating Agile ceremonies, supporting the Product Owner and Development Team, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability. The Scrum Master will also manage project budgets, mitigate risks, and ensure timely delivery of projects while promoting a trusting and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Understand Agile values and principles and guide teams on Agile/Scrum practices.
  • Provide support to the Product Owner and Development Team, leading by example.
  • Guide and coach delivery teams to self-organize and achieve objectives with Agile practices.
  • Facilitate all Agile ceremonies efficiently to help the team realize the value of the meetings.
  • Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution, building a trusting environment.
  • Work effectively with management and team members to clarify needs and plan delivery of product changes.
  • Manage and report on budget ensuring teams deliver within the allocated funding.
  • Proactively manage risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies.
  • Work with Product Owner and Development Team to facilitate effective sprints by removing impediments.
  • Deliver projects on time and on budget.
  • Review current agile processes and guide the team to improve their processes.
  • Help foster an environment that empowers and energizes team members.
  • Contribute to building a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Continually grow skills to enhance expertise and help the business grow.
  • Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency.

Requirements

  • CSM or equivalent certification.
  • A clear understanding of Agile methodologies, values, and procedures.
  • Great leadership skills to motivate scrum teams.
  • Good knowledge of facilitation techniques, servant leadership, and conflict resolution.
  • Experience with Agile PLM tools like JIRA.
  • Understanding of backlog tracking, Scrum and Kanban metrics, task definition, and story splitting.
  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
  • Experience in sprint & release planning, running demos and retrospectives.
  • Sound judgment and strong reasoning skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional experience in the financial services industry.
  • Bachelor's in computer science, management information systems, or related disciplines.
  • 4-6 years of experience with agile methodologies such as SAFe, Scrum, and Kanban.
  • Experience on multiple Scrum teams in various contexts.
  • Track record of continued education in Scrum, including training and conferences.
  • Knowledge of other Agile approaches like XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD.
  • Knowledge of Agile techniques like ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, etc.
  • Applicable knowledge of the technologies used by the team.
