About the position

The Scrum Master - IV position in Miami, FL is a long-term contract role that requires a seasoned professional with 7-10 years of experience in Scrum methodologies. The role is hybrid, requiring in-person attendance on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The Scrum Master will be responsible for ensuring that the goals, scope, and product domain are clearly understood by all members of the Scrum Team. This includes finding effective techniques for managing the Product Backlog and helping the team understand the importance of clear and concise Product Backlog items. The Scrum Master will also need to have a strong understanding of product planning in an empirical environment and ensure that the Product Owner is equipped to arrange the Product Backlog to maximize value. In addition to these responsibilities, the Scrum Master will facilitate Scrum events as needed, assist the product organization in refining user stories, and coach the Development Team in self-organization and cross-functionality. The role involves helping the Development Team create high-value products and removing any impediments to their progress. The Scrum Master will facilitate all team meetings, including Daily Stand-ups, Grooming Sessions, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, and Sprint Retrospectives. Furthermore, the Scrum Master will lead and coach the organization in its Scrum adoption, plan Scrum implementations, and help employees and stakeholders understand and enact Scrum and empirical product development. The position also requires collaboration with other Scrum Masters to enhance the effectiveness of Scrum application across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that goals, scope, and product domain are understood by everyone on the Scrum Team.

  • Removing impediments to the Development Team's progress.
  • Facilitating all team meetings, including Daily Stand-up / Scrum, Grooming Session, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review / Demo, and Sprint Retrospective.
  • Leading and coaching the organization in its Scrum adoption.
  • Planning Scrum implementations within the organization.
  • Helping employees and stakeholders understand and enact Scrum and empirical product development.
  • Causing change that increases the productivity of the Scrum Team.
  • Working with other Scrum Masters to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum in the organization.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of experience as a Scrum Master or in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of Scrum methodologies and practices.
  • Experience in facilitating Scrum events and coaching teams.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize the Product Backlog effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification as a Scrum Master (CSM, PSM, etc.).
  • Experience with Agile project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Trello).
  • Knowledge of software development processes and methodologies.
