About the position

As a Scrum Master at Booz Allen, you will play a pivotal role in guiding a development team through the Agile process, ensuring that best practices are followed and that the team is supported in their efforts to modernize critical projects. Your passion for outcomes will drive you to facilitate Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, sprint reviews, and sprint retrospectives, while also mentoring new team members on Agile processes. You will work closely with the management team to communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders, managing expectations and ensuring that everyone is aligned on project goals. In this role, you will be responsible for collecting and writing detailed user stories, collaborating with the team and clients to identify associated tasks and acceptance criteria. You will analyze business processes and work with the project team to implement improvements, maintaining a product backlog and supporting quality assurance and requirement validation. Your ability to meet with various stakeholders to discuss needs and provide suggestions during stakeholder interviews and requirements gathering will be crucial to the success of the projects you oversee. You will apply your functional knowledge to coach the development team, helping them focus on sprint goals and ensuring that the project progresses successfully. By applying basic Scrum principles and concepts, you will resolve routine problems and help the team navigate challenges effectively. Your contributions will be essential in fostering a collaborative and productive work environment, where the team can thrive and deliver high-quality results.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Agile best practices and mentor new team members on Agile processes.
  • Conduct sprint planning, sprint reviews, and sprint retrospectives.
  • Support management in communicating with clients and stakeholders to manage expectations.
  • Collect and write detailed user stories and identify associated tasks and acceptance criteria with the team and client.
  • Analyze business processes and work with the project team to implement and improve processes.
  • Maintain a product backlog and support QA and requirement validation.
  • Meet with various stakeholders to discuss needs and provide suggestions during stakeholder interviews and requirements gathering.
  • Provide documentation for new efforts, including level of effort analysis, plans or timelines, requirements documents, and other required documentation.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as the Scrum Master of a development team
  • 3+ years of experience gathering and documenting technical and business requirements
  • Experience with JIRA
  • Experience teaching technical teams the basic Agile framework concepts
  • Top Secret clearance
  • HS diploma or GED

  • Knowledge of the project management framework
  • Knowledge of agency or intelligence community and IT infrastructures
  • Possession of excellent problem-solving skills to provide technical assistance to IT development teams
  • Possession of excellent interpersonal skills to successfully interact with clients, engineers, and managers
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; Master's degree a plus
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) Certification
  • Security+ CE, SSCP, CCNA-Security, or GSEC Certification
