About the position

The Scrum Master or Senior Scrum Master at National Indemnity Company will play a crucial role in facilitating one or more technology product delivery teams. This position is focused on assisting in the delivery of new products to market and maintaining product health through feature enhancements and code improvements. The Scrum Master will empower delivery teams to perform at a high level, ensuring that they deliver business value through their development and execution of work activities. This role involves facilitating initiatives of varying complexity from initiation through release, providing oversight to ensure alignment with Agile Scrum and/or Kanban practices. In this position, the Scrum Master will be responsible for organizing and facilitating the scrum process and regular scrum ceremonies. This includes daily stand-ups, story estimation, release and sprint planning sessions, status meetings, sprint reviews, demos, and retrospectives. The Scrum Master will also be tasked with removing impediments to delivery through proactive management of external dependencies, team problem solving, and the development of new solutions or approaches to ongoing challenges. Additionally, the Scrum Master will provide coaching and feedback to team members, generate metrics for the teams to use in identifying areas for improvement, and promote a collaborative team environment that fosters creativity and innovation. This position is hybrid eligible, requiring 50% in-office attendance, and is not eligible for employer visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 3-5 years related work experience (Minimum 5-7 years for Senior Scrum Master)
  • Minimum 2+ years as a Scrum Master (Minimum 3+ years for Senior Scrum Master)
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Certified Scrum Professional (CSP)
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
  • Knowledge of software development practices and procedures
  • Experience working in application lifecycle management tools such as Microsoft Azure DevOps, JIRA, or Rally.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with business analysis or project management
  • Familiarity with continuous delivery and continuous integration
  • Insurance industry and product knowledge.
