About the position

The Scrum Master role at Discover is focused on promoting agile methodologies within an agile team, ensuring effective collaboration and continuous improvement. The Scrum Master facilitates all Scrum ceremonies, resolves impediments, and manages risks to help the team meet their sprint objectives and deliver successful releases. This position is integral to fostering a culture of agility and self-organization within the team, while also collaborating with other teams and stakeholders to drive project success.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies including Daily Standup, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retro.
  • Collect and provide relevant data and metrics to the team.
  • Act as a Servant Leader, driving team discussion and collaboration.
  • Coach the team on agile principles and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Manage impediment removal by working closely with other teams and stakeholders.
  • Attend Scrum of Scrum meetings to synchronize across teams and resolve blockers.
  • Facilitate Sprint release planning with Product Manager, Product Owner, and stakeholders.
  • Assist with ongoing backlog refinement with Product Manager and Product Owner.
  • Ensure sprint releases stay on track and update sprint activities in agile planning tools.
  • Assist with status reporting, velocity metrics, and socializing current risks and issues.
  • Partner with others in the Agile community to drive technology-focused teams towards achieving Agile principles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Business Administration and Management.
  • 4+ years of experience in Agile Practice or related fields.

Nice-to-haves

  • SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) certification
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Certified Scrum Professional - Scrum Master (CSP-SM)
  • Prior experience in a Project Management role, preferably leveraging Waterfall methodology.
  • Background supporting multiple teams.
  • Hands-on experience with Jira.
  • Background in payments, specifically debit experience.
