About the position

Genesis10 is seeking an Agile Scrum Master for a contract position in the financial industry located in Plano, TX. The role involves serving as a servant leader and coach to the Scrum team, promoting Agile principles, facilitating Scrum ceremonies, and fostering collaboration within the team and with stakeholders. The Scrum Master will guide the team in adopting Agile practices, remove obstacles to productivity, and ensure alignment with business objectives while tracking project progress.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a servant leader and coach to the Scrum team, promoting Agile principles and values
  • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
  • Foster effective collaboration and communication within the team and with stakeholders
  • Encourage cross-functional cooperation and self-organization, enabling the team to deliver on commitments
  • Guide the team in the adoption and implementation of Agile practices, ensuring adherence to Scrum principles
  • Help the team understand and embrace Agile concepts, roles, and responsibilities
  • Identify and remove any obstacles or impediments that hinder team productivity or the achievement of project goals
  • Act as a shield, protecting the team from external distractions
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by facilitating retrospectives and implementing action plans based on identified areas for growth
  • Encourage the team to experiment, learn, and adapt
  • Collaborate closely with product owners, business stakeholders, and development teams to clarify requirements, prioritize backlog items, and maintain transparency
  • Keep stakeholders informed of project progress and ensure alignment with business objectives
  • Track and report on project progress, velocity, and other relevant metrics
  • Provide timely and accurate updates to management and stakeholders

Requirements

  • 5+ years as a Scrum Master, leading Agile software development teams and delivering successful software products
  • Strong understanding of Agile principles and the Scrum framework
  • Familiarity with other Agile methodologies
  • Excellent facilitation, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build rapport and motivate teams
  • Exceptional communication and presentation abilities, with the capacity to convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset, with a focus on finding innovative solutions

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in Agile project management tools (e.g., Jira, Horizon)
  • Familiarity with software development practices and technologies
