About the position

Arcticom, LLC, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation, is currently seeking a Scrum Master to support a Marine Corps audit effort for a Logistics system. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, a quick learner, and able to work independently while collaborating with other team members and external components in a complex environment. This position involves providing support across multiple Agile teams in a Government environment, ensuring that Agile practices are effectively implemented and adhered to. As a Scrum Master, you will guide and coach the Agile Team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values. You will be responsible for holding the team accountable to the tenants of Agile and working agreements, promoting the Agile values and principles from the Agile Manifesto. Your role will also involve empowering teams to self-organize around their commitments, identifying and removing impediments that interfere with the team's ability to deliver, and facilitating discussions and decision-making processes. In addition, you will assist the team in tracking and communicating progress and metrics, build a trusting and safe environment for problem-solving, and coach the team to higher levels of Agile maturity at a sustainable pace. This position requires excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to develop, prioritize, and accomplish goals effectively. You will also need to maintain a constant state of mental alertness and be prepared for occasional travel as required by the job.

Responsibilities

  • Guide and coach the Agile Team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values.
  • Provide support to the team using a servant leadership style and lead by example.
  • Hold the team accountable to the tenants of Agile and working agreements, including the use of appropriate tools, standards, and best practices.
  • Promote and demonstrate the Agile values and twelve agile principles from the Agile Manifesto.
  • Empower teams to self-organize around the achievement of their commitments.
  • Identify and remove any impediments and distractions that interfere with the team's ability to deliver.
  • Recommend improvements and assist in changes to best practices where appropriate.
  • Assist the team in tracking and communicating progress and metrics.
  • Facilitate and enable an environment of collaboration and creativity.
  • Assess the Agile maturity of the team and organization, coaching the team to higher levels of maturity.
  • Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame or retribution.
  • Facilitate getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work.
  • Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.
  • Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information for better visibility.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years' experience as a practicing Scrum Master.
  • Professional Scrum Master certification is required (PSM I, PSM II, CSM, SSM, SASM).
  • Bachelor's degree or 5-10 years equivalent experience.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Understanding of common Agile frameworks and development practices including DevOps.
  • Understanding of software testing and development methodologies and practices.
  • Ability to apply Agile practices within government culture.
  • Advanced computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Excellent analysis and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop, prioritize and accomplish goals.
