About the position

Kforce has a client seeking a Scrum Master in Bolingbrook, IL. The Scrum Master will play a pivotal role in building and coaching high-performing teams, ensuring that the teams' actions are aligned with the project goals and vision. This position requires a strong understanding of Agile and Scrum concepts and principles, as the Scrum Master will look for ways to strengthen the teams' understanding of these methodologies. The Scrum Master will ensure that Scrum practices are not only used but also improved within and across the teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning and adaptation. In this role, the Scrum Master will bring transparency to both the Business and IT organizations regarding development processes, thereby building trust among stakeholders. They will identify trade-offs between short- and long-term benefits to drive a shared vision between the team and the product owner. The Scrum Master will facilitate cross-team events and processes, assisting teams in delivering value while managing risks, stakeholder communications, and escalations. Collaboration with other Scrum Masters is essential for consistent adoption and effectiveness of Agile practices across the organization. Additional responsibilities include helping the team adopt and practice Agile core values and principles, facilitating team events such as daily stand-ups, iteration/sprint planning, sprint reviews, retrospectives, demos, and backlog refinements. The Scrum Master will also identify impediments and cross-team dependencies, supporting the team in eliminating distractions and addressing issues. Establishing clear Agile performance metrics such as quality, flow, predictability, and velocity will be crucial, as will leading the team's efforts to improve performance. Coaching stakeholders and non-Agile teams on Agile/non-Agile team interactions will also be part of the Scrum Master's duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of relevant work experience with Agile and Scrum preferred
  • In-depth knowledge about various Agile methodologies and experienced in coaching Scrum and Kanban teams
  • Delivery or software development background
  • Domain-specific technical knowledge to remove blockers
  • Strong communication skills - able to propagate information promptly, clearly and unambiguously
  • Excellent problem-solving, organization and analytical skills, with the ability to coach and mentor a team
  • Experience managing 2+ teams at one time
  • Skilled in building relationships and navigating through organizations
  • High level of personal ownership; willing to understand what is being built to impact the ultimate delivery of the team's products and be held accountable for the team's on-time delivery
  • User-centric - seeks to understand and strengthen how the team's work will impact Client-customers and teams
  • Assertive, with the confidence to be the voice of authority - not afraid to do what is best for the team
  • Certified Scrum Practitioner (CSP) or Certified Scrum Coach (CSC) preferred
