About the position

The Scrum Master position at Smart IMS is a remote role focused on facilitating Agile practices within the team. The primary responsibilities include leading daily Scrum meetings, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and sprint retrospectives. The Scrum Master will play a crucial role in maintaining team dynamics by coaching team members through one-on-one sessions, mediating conflicts, and identifying key project and product decisions that impact team delivery. The role also involves fostering self-organization within the team and supporting the goals of the project, organization, and product owners. In addition to team facilitation, the Scrum Master will assist in product-related activities, including release planning and ensuring that the team is familiar with the product. The Scrum Master will act as a liaison, bringing together stakeholders and keeping them informed about the team's progress. This position also requires the Scrum Master to help promote the Agile community within the organization by providing learning opportunities, such as talks and workshops, to educate others on important Agile concepts like technical debt. The Scrum Master will be a key contact for team members and stakeholders regarding Agile practices and will facilitate necessary changes to improve team performance and project outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate daily Scrum meetings, sprint planning, sprint review, and sprint retrospective meetings.
• Coach team members through one-on-one coaching and support team dynamics.
• Mediate through impediments and conflicts that arise within the team.
• Identify outstanding project and product decisions impacting team delivery.
• Foster self-organization within the assigned team.
• Support team, project, and organizational goals with project leaders and product owners.
• Provide constructive feedback to the team to enhance performance.
• Encourage the use of Agile practices within development teams.
• Assist teams and vendors with release planning activities.
• Maintain regular communication with all stakeholders to keep them informed.
• Help the team report progress to management effectively.
• Promote the Agile community within the organization by providing learning opportunities.
• Facilitate change and improvement within the team and organization.

Requirements

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience working in the Scrum Master role.
• Expertise in facilitating Agile practices and methodologies.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with JIRA and Agile development practices.
• Experience with Scrum methodology.
