About the position

The Scrum Master at Nightwing will lead software development teams, ensuring they meet their goals and objectives while fostering an agile environment. This role requires a self-motivated individual who can facilitate team progress, address challenges, and support the team in achieving high performance in software development. The Scrum Master will also engage in individual contributions, demonstrating strong leadership and communication skills in a complex system-of-systems context.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the team's progress toward team goals.
  • Continuously challenge old norms of development to improve performance in quality, predictability, flow, and velocity.
  • Help the team focus on iteration goals in the context of current Program Increment (PI) Objectives.
  • Actively address blocking issues to maintain flow.
  • Make and influence decisions impacting cost, schedule, and technical performance at a team level.
  • Decompose features into well-defined user stories and perform software development tasks such as analysis, design, implementation, integration, and testing.
  • Coordinate agile team meetings and support the product owner.
  • Participate in peer reviews, remove blockers, assist in design decisions, and clarify story acceptance criteria.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and 3 years of prior relevant experience, or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • Experience in software technical lead roles.
  • Agile software development experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Linux development environments.
  • Usage of ALM tools (JIRA, Confluence, Crucible, Bamboo).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working on complex system-of-systems software development programs for the US Government.
