About the position

The Associate Scrum Master is an individual contributor position responsible for working closely with a diverse group of cross-functional partners to deliver an exceptional customer experience, aligned with business goals and objectives. This role emphasizes servant leadership, acting as an inward-facing organizer responsible for facilitating team activities, developing and tracking metrics, and reporting all activities for 1-2 digital Product Teams. A crucial component of this position is encouraging teams to adhere to Agile values, ensuring that the principles, values, and practices of Agile are lived by the assigned Product Team(s). The Scrum Master will also be tasked with removing internal roadblocks that prevent the team from reaching full velocity and escalating external blockers to platform leadership and key stakeholders. In this role, the Scrum Master will experiment with and integrate processes and tools that encourage continuous improvement, developing a deep understanding of the assigned Product Team(s) digital capabilities and vision for future enhancements. Collaboration with Development Leads and Product Owners is essential to promote a shared vision and roadmap. The Scrum Master will facilitate sprint planning and retrospective activities, emphasizing code quality through small, focused user stories, and assisting teams with a hands-on servant leader approach from inception to delivery of work. Additionally, the Scrum Master will assist Product Owners with keeping backlogs appropriately groomed and maintain relevant metrics to monitor team throughput and velocity, driving performance and continuous improvement. The role may also involve assisting with other product teams as required to contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the work, facilitating meetings, and preparing and leading presentations as requested.

Responsibilities

  • Assure assigned Product Team(s) live by the principles, values, and practices of Agile

Requirements

  • 3+ years professional experience or technology project management experience, ideally with a digital commerce focus
  • Experience with SDLC, Agile, and Waterfall development approaches
  • Experience with User Stories, Acceptance Test-Driven Development, Test-Driven Development, Behavior-Driven Development, Continuous Integration, Pairing, and Automated Testing
  • An understanding of Scrum ceremonies, methods of story estimation, and velocity measurement
  • Strong creative, analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative global work environment

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years in agile environment preferred
  • Professional experience in direct retail, e-commerce, or consulting environment
  • Experience with leading ALM tools (JIRA/Version One/TFS/Agile Central/Rally, etc.)
  • Ability to work in a continuously changing environment
  • Ability and initiative to learn and research new concepts, ideas, and technologies quickly
  • General business and financial acumen
