About the position

As a Scrum Master, you will play a pivotal role in guiding and coaching the Scrum Team on how to effectively utilize Agile practices and principles to deliver high-quality products and services to our customers. Your primary responsibility will be to elevate the team's performance by identifying areas of strength and improvement, employing appropriate coaching and development techniques to foster a high-performing environment. You will ensure that Scrum is well understood and that the team adheres to Scrum theory, practices, and guidelines, thereby facilitating a culture of continuous improvement. In this role, you will coach the Scrum team in self-organization, cross-functional skillset development, and domain knowledge, while also ensuring effective communication both internally and externally within the Scrum team. You will collaborate with the Scrum Team and various stakeholders to influence and drive decision-making processes, supporting organizational project or product teams. Additionally, you will work alongside other Scrum Masters to resolve team impediments, enhancing the overall effectiveness of Scrum application within the organization. Your contributions will extend to the advancement and improvement of Agile practices across the organization. You will facilitate and support all Scrum events, including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective. As a leader, you will coach and support Agile teams primarily engaged in Business as Usual (BAU) work, while also contributing to significant departmental initiatives and relevant corporate projects.

Responsibilities

  • Guide and coach the Scrum Team on Agile practices and principles.
  • Help the team reach a high-performing level by identifying strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure Scrum is understood and adhered to by the team.
  • Coach the Scrum team in self-organization and cross-functional skillset development.
  • Facilitate effective communication within the Scrum team and with stakeholders.
  • Work with Scrum Team and stakeholders to influence decision-making.
  • Resolve team impediments with other Scrum Masters to enhance Scrum effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with Agile coaches and other Scrum Masters for personal growth.
  • Contribute to the advancement of Agile practices within the organization.
  • Facilitate all Scrum events: Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 8 years of product or project development experience, or 6 years of project development experience on an Agile Team, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating meetings at multiple organizational levels.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Outstanding communication, facilitation, negotiation, and coaching skills.
  • Knowledge of an agile framework or method (i.e., Scrum, Kanban) and traditional project management principles.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with software development life cycle models.
  • Adept at refinement, story splitting, estimation, velocity, retrospection, and other Scrum techniques.
