About the position

BAE Systems is looking for a Scrum Master to join our team to support a Cloud-based (AWS) mission critical system for our Federal Customer. This person will provide extremely high-level subject matter proficiency for work described in the task. The Scrum Master is responsible for effectively and efficiently managing the development sprints from planning to execution to review in an agile development environment. Your role will include running daily scrums, managing the product backlog, collaborating on requirement documentation, managing support tickets and unblocking barriers to keep the team moving. You will be responsible to communicate and collaborate primarily with the engineering, customer success and senior management teams. The ideal candidate will be able to collaborate with cross-functional teams, demonstrate strong leadership abilities and have the desire to be part of a dynamic team where you'll have the opportunity to guide the development of a portfolio of products. As a Scrum Master, you will facilitate daily stand-ups, iteration planning, sprint reviews, and iteration retrospectives. You will manage engineering development projects and facilitate sprint releases, create or analyze business requirements documents and project timelines, and guide the team in time estimating practices. Your role will also involve driving team iteration execution, communicating with management and stakeholders, managing project conflicts, challenges, and dynamic business requirements to keep operations running at a high performance. You will work with team leads to resolve problems and project roadblocks, conduct post mortems and root cause analysis to help teams continuously improve their practices, and lead team efforts in relentless improvement by defining and implementing improvement stories to increase the velocity and quality of the program. Additionally, you will implement and support principles, rules, and processes, proactively identify and eliminate impediments, and maintain team data in project management software (i.e., JIRA and others) to support estimates and execution. Presenting high-level project readouts for senior management and supporting product owner(s) with intra-team dynamics with respect to priorities and scope will also be part of your responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum 8 years of project management experience and 3 years leading sprints
  • Demonstrable expertise of agile methodology and frameworks like Scrum, Kanban, etc.
  • Thrives in a highly collaborative, fast paced environment
  • Expert coach on implementation of agile scrum
  • Deep understanding of the fundamentals of iterative and incremental development
  • Deep understanding of agile metrics (tasks, backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, user stories etc.) to analyze and improve sprint planning
  • Comfortable with presenting project readouts to Executive level audience
