About the position

This position is responsible for supporting Agile Teams during the planning, developing, testing, and release of value to our customers by employing Agile practices and lean principles within a scaled Agile Framework. The Scrum Master will play a crucial role in facilitating the Agile process, ensuring that the team adheres to Agile methodologies and practices, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The Scrum Master will also be responsible for coaching Agile Teams and other professionals in the organization, helping them to implement changes in their approach, processes, policies, and procedures to enhance productivity and efficiency. A typical day in this role involves leading daily stand-up meetings, conducting Inspect & Adapt meetings, and providing agile and lean coaching to the Agile Team. The Scrum Master will work closely with business stakeholders to drive decision-making and ensure timely responses to development and testing questions. They will also monitor the progress of Agile Teams, ensuring that retrospective feedback is presented to management and adopted by the teams. Additionally, the Scrum Master will be responsible for reporting and escalating issues that are not being mitigated to product management, ensuring that all work remains within the defined scope and acceptance criteria. The Scrum Master will continue to enrich their understanding of Agile practices and lean principles through workshops, learning sources, and certifications. They will also ensure that planned cross-domain work is visible to product owners and product management, and that dependencies and enablers that block prioritized work are communicated to the architecture team. This role is essential in maintaining the integrity of the Agile process and ensuring that the team delivers high-quality results to customers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide agile and lean coaching to Agile Team and other professionals in ITS.
  • Help Agile Teams implement changes in approach processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Mitigate blockers that prohibit development or testing during increments by engaging the correct resource(s).
  • Provide independent voice during planning and refinement to ensure that Agile Team understands work as defined by customer's acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure that Agile Teams and customer stay within scope as defined in acceptance criteria during increments.
  • Discuss requests for changes in work during increments during problem-solving workshops with customers and ITS.
  • Lead daily stand-up meetings and other meetings, such as an Inspect & Adapt meeting.
  • Ensure ITS processes, policies, and procedures are followed.
  • Work with business stakeholders to drive decision making and timely responses to development and testing questions during increments.
  • Monitor progress of Agile Teams and ensure that retrospective feedback is presented to management and adopted by Agile Teams.
  • Ensure that planned cross-domain work is visible to product owners and product management.
  • Ensure that dependencies and enablers that block prioritized work are delivered to the architecture team.
  • Provide weekly status updates for product management and architecture team on the state of development and testing during the increment.
  • Continue to enrich understanding of agile practices and lean principles through workshops and other learning sources.
  • Report and escalate issues that are not getting mitigated to product management.

Requirements

  • BS in Business or Information Technology degree and/or 5+ years of applicable experience in IT or as a Scrum Master.
  • Experience as a Java developer or in quality assurance preferred.
  • Scrum Master certification(s) are highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile Concepts.
  • Prior experience coaching teams in Agile or as Scrum Master.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Proficient at refinement, story splitting, velocity, retrospectives, and other agile techniques.
