About the position

Genesis10 is seeking a Senior Scrum Master for a contract position with our client in Eagan, MN, offering 80% remote work flexibility. The Senior Scrum Master will collaborate closely with the Product Owner to understand business needs and will be responsible for leading a new Scrum team or multiple Scrum teams. This role is pivotal in iteratively developing new features, enhancements, and fixing defects. As a servant leader, the Scrum Master will guide the team through Agile Scrum processes, ensuring that any impediments to productivity are effectively removed. This position may also involve acting as an agile coach for multiple teams, particularly in a new or highly complex product environment. The Senior Scrum Master will coach the Scrum Team and the organization on Agile/Scrum practices and methodologies, acting as a thought leader for the Product Owner, especially in refining the product backlog to maximize impact. This role requires building trusted partnerships with senior-level stakeholders across the organization to drive product initiatives forward and meet customer needs. The Scrum Master will be responsible for eliminating obstacles to product delivery by working directly with IT and business units, analyzing the Agile maturity of Scrum teams, and coaching them to achieve higher levels of maturity at a sustainable pace. Creating a self-sustaining, trusting, and safe environment for Scrum teams is essential, as is facilitating discussions, decision-making, and conflict resolution. Additionally, the Senior Scrum Master will lead efforts to enhance internal and external communications, improve transparency, and ensure that information is effectively shared across teams. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to support the overall objectives of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Coaches the Scrum Team/organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and methodologies.
  • Acts as a thought leader for the Product Owner, especially with respect to refining the product backlog to deliver the most impact.
  • Acts as a trusted business partner to senior-level cross-organizational stakeholders to drive products forward and exceed customer needs.
  • Eliminates impediments to products and delivery working directly with IT and the business.
  • Analyzes the Agile maturity of Scrum team(s) and coaches the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team.
  • Creates a self-sustaining trusting and safe environment for scrum teams to address concerns and support collaborative problem solving.
  • Facilitates getting the work done, discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.
  • Leads all efforts to provide key internal and external communications, improving transparency, and ensuring information is shared.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related area of study, or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experience; HS diploma or GED is required.
  • 5 years of work experience in Scrum/Agile or working in related information technology, business analysis or project management roles.
  • 2 years of experience coaching leadership, teams, and/or individuals, and providing work direction.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without need for work visa or residency sponsorship.
  • Demonstrated expertise in planning, controlling, and monitoring of products in Scrum, Extreme Programming (XP), Kanban, and SAFe.
  • Proven customer focus with the ability to lead and communicate effectively with business (non-IT) and technical stakeholders.
  • Track record of a team player across diverse teams with excellent interpersonal and motivational skills, with experience in coaching, mentoring, and developing others.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with ambiguity and evolving priorities.
  • Expert problem-solving and analysis capabilities.
  • Experience in working within a traditional Software Development Life-Cycle (SDLC) ability to apply standards of test-driven development methods covering the full development lifecycle (e.g. project preparation, analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and support) to ensure solution quality and consistency of process.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5 years as a Scrum Master of multiple embedded technology teams.
  • Advanced Certified Scrum Master (A-CSM) and/or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) certification.
  • Certified Team Coach.
