About the position

The Scrum Master role is a pivotal position within the Global Technology & Solutions Department of the Investor Services division at The Carlyle Group. This role is primarily responsible for the planning, execution, delivery, and support of technology solutions that are integral to the firm's Corporate Services organization. Initially, the focus will be on serving key stakeholder groups, including Corporate Communications, Internal Audit, and Risk. The Scrum Master will coordinate and collaborate with Agile teams to write user stories, plan releases and iterations, implement test-driven development, and facilitate continuous integration. Daily Scrum stand-up meetings, velocity and capacity planning, and retrospectives will also be part of the Scrum Master's responsibilities. This position requires close collaboration with team members from the Global Technology & Solutions department and other departments such as Investor Relations, Fund Management, Global Credit, Solutions, Legal & Compliance, and Accounting. In this role, the Scrum Master will define project scope and objectives, ensuring technical feasibility while involving all relevant stakeholders. They will develop detailed project and release plans to monitor and track progress, define and document business requirements, and coordinate the use of internal resources and third-party vendors for flawless project execution. Managing project performance, changes to scope, schedule, and costs using appropriate tools and techniques is essential. The Scrum Master will also manage risks, issues, dependencies, and blockers, escalating to management as necessary. Ensuring that all projects are delivered according to agreed-upon schedules and cost plans is a critical aspect of this role. Additionally, the Scrum Master will work with internal teams to prioritize system changes and feature requests, helping to resolve outstanding issues while maintaining project and system documentation to ensure continuity of operations.

Responsibilities

  • Defining project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
  • Developing detailed project and release plans to monitor and track progress.
  • Defining, documenting, and refining business requirements and process documentation.
  • Coordinating the use of internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution and delivery of projects.
  • Managing project performance, changes to the project scope, schedule, and costs, using appropriate tools & techniques.
  • Managing risks & issues, dependencies, blockers and escalating to management as needed.
  • Ensuring that all projects are delivered accordingly to agreed-upon schedule & cost plans.
  • Working with internal teams to prioritize system changes, feature requests, and helping to resolve outstanding issues.
  • Maintaining project & system documentation to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Developing client relationships to strengthen business partnerships and drive change.
  • Managing and executing the end-to-end product development lifecycle: Requirements analysis, Design, Development, Testing, and Maintenance.
  • Applying organizational standards and agile best practices in support of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Enforcing quality gates to ensure work products being delivered align to client expectations.
  • Mentoring junior staff and agile team members to facilitate solution delivery.
  • Facilitating communication between clients and development teams in support of project goals & objectives.
  • Preparing the business case narrative and all supporting materials needed to obtain funding for projects requiring approval from Senior Leadership.
  • Supervising the work of business analysts, data analysts, developers, and quality assurance analysts to maximize the quality and quantity of their output.
  • Supporting governance efforts in the areas of process, data, vendor and policy management through meeting management and planning activities.
  • Analyzing business processes, client work-activities, and work-artifacts to develop a deep insight into and an understanding of client needs.
  • Working closely with the fund & firm tax teams, fund management, partnership accounting, data stewards and other business partners to gather and document requirements & the business process for new capabilities.
  • Documenting processes, artifacts and data in a way that produces requirements that enable development teams to build solutions and business staff to review their own activities.
  • Assisting technical solution leads in preparing materials necessary to illustrate & communicate proposed system design, including but not limited to: high-level solution illustrations, wireframe mock-ups, system process-flows, dataflow diagrams, and application state charts.
  • Managing and providing front-line support for technology supporting operations.
  • Managing the track and remediation of all defects and additional enhancement requests, prioritizing those for immediate action and adding the remainder to the backlog.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving reporting related issues in close coordination with IT and business teams.
  • Maintaining project & training documentation, knowledge bases, job aids, webinars and other materials in support of ongoing operations.
  • Assisting in training users on technology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Major in Accounting, Computer Science, or Information Systems/Technology preferred.
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) or Agile Scrum Master (CSM) preferred.
  • Certified Scrum Master with advanced experience leading Agile/Scrum delivery teams.
  • Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Internal audit and risk knowledge preferred.
  • Experience with Business Process Mapping and Requirements elicitation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Experience with Communications and Marketing Technology, specifically Drupal or other Content Management Systems, E-Mail Marketing, Analytics, and Digital Asset Management technology preferred.
  • Experience administering and managing SOX, Audit, and Risk modules within the Workiva platform preferred.
  • Experience working with the Atlassian suite of project management tools: JIRA, Confluence preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience required.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience managing meetings, directing working groups, maintaining delivery roadmaps, tracking and reporting on project delivery, and providing status updates.
  • Working experience and understanding of the private equity business and Compliance reporting needs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills (written and oral) and ability to work across multiple teams.
  • Strong organization skills: detail-oriented, efficient and diligent.
  • Ability to understand and articulate business needs (from various sources) and verbally communicate to those with and without a technology background.

  • Experience working either directly or indirectly in/with Procurement or Contract team functions managing or implementing and/or operating Third Party Risk Management or Supplier Risk Management solutions.
