About the position

Zelis is seeking a dedicated Scrum Master to join our Enterprise Product Management team. In this role, the Scrum Master will serve as a servant leader and coach, facilitating effective communication between management and team members. The Scrum Master will play a crucial role in educating the team on Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe methodologies, ensuring adherence to the agreed Agile processes. The ideal candidate will be approachable, collaborative, and passionate about working with others to foster a high-performing team environment. They will proactively address challenges to help their team succeed, driving the Agile framework to ensure high-quality product delivery and continuous improvement in a fast-paced setting. This position offers flexibility in work location, with options for hybrid and remote work based on the needs of the role and company policies. The Scrum Master will be responsible for supporting the rules of Scrum, implementing Built-In Quality practices from Extreme Programming (XP), and managing Work in Process (WIP) limits from Kanban. They will facilitate the team's progress toward goals by assisting product owners in maintaining and prioritizing the product backlog, leading daily and sprint goals in alignment with current Program Increment (PI) objectives. The Scrum Master will also guide the team in establishing normalized estimates and help them understand how to estimate Features and Capabilities effectively. In addition to facilitating team meetings such as Daily Stand-ups, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective, the Scrum Master will work with cross-functional Scrum teams to collaborate on timelines and best practices. This role requires a strong understanding of the Scrum framework and Agile principles, as well as experience in managing technical projects and leading Kanban agile teams. The Scrum Master will be instrumental in driving relentless improvement within the team by educating them on problem-solving techniques and addressing any issues that may arise to enhance achievement objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Support the rules of Scrum and Built-In Quality practices from Extreme Programming (XP).
  • Assist product owner(s) in maintaining and prioritizing the product backlog.
  • Lead daily and sprint goals in the context of the current Program Increment (PI) Objectives.
  • Facilitate the team's progress toward team goals.
  • Educate the team on problem-solving techniques for relentless improvement.
  • Address and eliminate issues to improve achievement objectives.
  • Work with cross-functional Scrum teams to collaborate on timelines and best practices.
  • Facilitate team meetings, including Daily Stand-up, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective.
  • Guide the team in establishing normalized estimates and help them understand how to estimate Features and Capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or other four-year degree.
  • Certified Scrum Master certification.
  • 3-4 years' experience supporting technical projects and leading Kanban agile teams such as software development and delivery, as a Scrum Master or Project Manager.
  • Thorough knowledge of Scrum framework and application of core Agile values and principles in managing Product Development and Delivery.
  • 3-4 years' experience working with Jira to manage team sprints and commitments.
  • Exposure to modern engineering practices like Unit Test-Driven Development, Acceptance Test-Driven Development, and Continuous Integration.
  • Experience in successfully delivering medium/large size projects with minimal direction.
