About the position

Kforce has a client seeking a Scrum Master in San Francisco, CA. The Scrum Master will embrace the agile mindset, advocating and championing agile practices across the Technology organization. This role involves challenging, coaching, and guiding teams using agile and lean principles to foster a culture of continuous improvement. The Scrum Master will be responsible for providing creative solutions to common agile transformation issues such as resistance to change, limited resources, conflicting priorities, and lack of accountability. The ideal candidate will have the ability to utilize agile methods flexibly, often integrating traditional project management techniques when necessary, including managing hard deadlines and fixed dates. A strong understanding of various agile frameworks, events, and artifacts (such as Scrum and Kanban) is essential, along with the ability to implement and apply these frameworks effectively with both new and existing teams. Key responsibilities include managing and facilitating team ceremonies such as quarterly product planning, product owner syncs, backlog grooming, estimating and sizing efforts, release planning, sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives. The Scrum Master will also coach teams and leaders in agile principles and practices, roles and responsibilities, and frameworks, fostering a continuous improvement environment to build high-performing agile teams. Additionally, tracking and reporting on metrics to measure progress and effectiveness of agile adoption and maturity will be a critical part of the role. The Scrum Master will guide product management teams in defining MVPs, developing product charters, product community maps, product roadmaps, release plans, story mapping, writing stories, and backlog prioritization and management. Training and mentoring other Scrum Masters and building communities of practice for Scrum Masters to share, learn, and grow will also be part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Five or more years of experience in Software Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC) teams.
  • Three or more years of experience as a Scrum Master.
  • Three or more years of experience in Agile technology delivery.
