About the position

The Scrum Master role at Meijer is focused on leading Agile teams within the Information Technology Services (ITS) department. This position is responsible for facilitating Scrum activities, collaborating with product owners, developers, and quality analysts to ensure effective value delivery throughout the Agile software development process. The Scrum Master will provide technical guidance, support self-organization within teams, and help remove impediments to success, all while promoting Agile principles and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Product owners to create, refine and maintain product backlog
  • Gain knowledge of cross functional applications and maintain documentation
  • Provide leadership and high-level technical or functional consultation for new systems development and for the enhancement of existing systems
  • Align teams to the Program Increment (PI) Objectives and delivery of value
  • Guide the team in utilizing Agile practices to ensure successful self-organization
  • Lead without explicit authority and remove impediments to the teams' success
  • Facilitate discussion, decision-making, and conflict resolution to attain value
  • Support and collaborate with the Product Owner regarding the product work backlog
  • Facilitate SAFe ceremonies for the Agile team
  • Understand Agile principles and systems thinking

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (Computer Science preferred)
  • 5+ years of IT experience
  • 3+ years of experience working as a Scrum Master
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a Scrum or Agile role within IT
  • 5 years performing in a developer, software engineer, application engineer or business analyst role
  • Relevant Scrum Master certification (CSM/PMI-ACP/PSM)
  • SAFe for Teams certification (SA)
  • Experience with the Scaled Agile (SAFe) framework
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and experience with Agile process, tools, and techniques
  • Proficient skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, relentless improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills
  • Strong knowledge and experience in developing large systems or many smaller systems
  • Ability to navigate intra-team conflicts and drive resolution
