About the position
The Scrum Master at American Equity Investment Life Insurance Company is responsible for coaching scrum teams in the Information Systems department to ensure effective project delivery. This role involves maintaining and documenting sprints, facilitating team collaboration, and removing barriers to achieve sprint goals. The Scrum Master will work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and other stakeholders to enhance the team's Agile maturity and support the overall project management process.
Responsibilities
- Coaches and guides the team and organization on Agile/Scrum values and practices.
- Assesses the Scrum maturity of the team and coaches them to higher levels of maturity.
- Removes impediments or guides the team to remove impediments.
- Builds a trusting and safe environment focused on execution and problem-solving.
- Facilitates collaborative work, resource allocation, and conflict resolution.
- Facilitates daily scrum, sprint planning, sprint demo, and retrospective meetings.
- Leads estimation, planning, and backlog grooming in Agile sprints.
- Improves transparency and communication within the team and with stakeholders.
- Supports and educates the Product Owner on maintaining the product backlog.
- Provides bi-weekly status reports on project progress.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of scrum master experience in an Agile software development environment.
- Experience applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.
- Experience using a variety of successful Agile techniques.
- Insurance industry experience.
Nice-to-haves
- Completion or progress towards Certified Product Owner and Certified Scrum Master training.
