About the position

The Scrum Master at Leidos will play a crucial role in supporting the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) by facilitating Agile practices and ensuring effective team collaboration. This position focuses on enhancing the productivity and delivery of program objectives through the implementation of Agile methodologies, mentoring team members, and removing impediments to success. The Scrum Master will work closely with various stakeholders to align project requirements and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the Agile teams.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a servant-leader to Agile teams by facilitating Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Guide teams in implementing Agile practices to improve productivity, collaboration, and delivery of program objectives.
  • Support Agile teams in understanding and practicing Agile principles, ensuring adherence to Scrum framework processes.
  • Mentor team members on Agile roles, responsibilities, and deliverables to foster self-organization and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and remove impediments to ensure the team can meet its sprint and program goals.
  • Escalate issues and risks that require attention from senior leadership or external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with product owners, program managers, and technical leads to ensure a clear understanding of project requirements and priorities.
  • Foster communication between technical teams, business stakeholders, and other Scrum Masters to ensure alignment across projects.
  • Track team performance metrics (e.g., velocity, burndown charts) and provide regular progress updates to program leadership.
  • Use data to identify areas for improvement and recommend strategies to enhance team performance.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by facilitating retrospectives and ensuring actionable feedback is implemented.
  • Drive adoption of Agile best practices tailored to the needs of the EDAT program and USSOCOM's operational environment.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a BA degree and 4+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 - 6 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Must possess a Top Secret (TS) clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM).
  • 4-8 years of experience in a Scrum Master or related role in an Agile environment.
  • Proven ability to support Agile teams in delivering software, infrastructure, or enterprise solutions.
  • Familiarity with Agile project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, or Microsoft Azure DevOps.
  • Basic understanding of software development and IT operations to facilitate technical team discussions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Additional certifications such as SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) or PMI-Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP).
  • Familiarity with DoD or government project environments, especially within USSOCOM or similar operational contexts.
  • Experience working in Agile teams delivering mission-critical solutions under strict compliance standards.
  • Knowledge of scaling frameworks such as SAFe, LeSS, or Scrum@Scale.
