About the position

The Scrum Master will play a pivotal role in guiding and mentoring multiple teams and the organization in the adoption and implementation of Agile and Scrum best practices, methodologies, and values. This position requires a deep understanding of Agile principles and the ability to assess the Scrum maturity of teams and the organization as a whole. The Scrum Master will coach teams to achieve higher levels of maturity at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for all involved. This involves not only facilitating the Scrum process but also actively removing impediments that may hinder the team's progress, or guiding the team in identifying and resolving these impediments themselves. In addition to these responsibilities, the Scrum Master will facilitate the completion of work assignments, which may include assigning or dictating work tasks as necessary. They will also play a crucial role in facilitating discussions, decision-making processes, team building activities, and conflict resolution among team members. Effective internal and external communication is essential, and the Scrum Master will work to improve transparency and radiate information throughout the organization. Supporting product owners and project leadership is also a key aspect of this role, ensuring that the teams maximize their return on investment (ROI) and align with the organization's objectives. The Scrum Master will support and educate the Product Owner and teams, particularly in grooming and maintaining the product backlog. Engaging in agile delivery using best practices, including Scrum and Kanban methodologies, is expected. The Scrum Master will adopt a servant leadership style, providing support to teams and leading by example. They will facilitate all necessary team meetings in accordance with Scrum ceremonies and participate in all design sessions. Additionally, the Scrum Master may perform or direct the performance of special tasks as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the teams and the organization.

Responsibilities

• Guide and mentor multiple teams and the organization using Agile/Scrum best practices, methodologies, and values.
• Assess the Scrum maturity of the teams and organization and coach the teams to higher levels of maturity.
• Remove impediments or guide a team to remove impediments.
• Facilitate completion of work assignments, assigning or dictating work assignments as necessary.
• Facilitate discussion, decision making, team building, and conflict resolution.
• Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information.
• Support product owners and project leadership to maximize return on investment (ROI) and meet organizational objectives.
• Support and educate the Product Owner and teams, including grooming and maintaining the product backlog.
• Engage in agile delivery utilizing best agile methodologies (i.e., Scrum, Kanban, etc.).
• Provide support to teams using a servant leadership style and lead by example.
• Facilitate all necessary team meetings in accordance with Scrum ceremonies.
• Participate in all design sessions.
• Perform or direct the performance of special tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Five (5) years of experience in the Scrum Master role.
• Scrum Master certification (include a copy of the certificate with resume).

Nice-to-haves

• Identifying and building Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure program performance.
• Experience with JIRA and/or Azure Dev Ops.
• Creating and maintaining product timelines, status reports, communication plans, and other product management-related documentation.
