About the position

The SD-WAN Performance and Operations Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and optimal performance of the SD-WAN infrastructure. This role involves managing daily network operations, troubleshooting performance issues, and implementing enhancements to improve WAN efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in SD-WAN technologies and network operations management.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously monitor SD-WAN performance using tools such as SolarWinds and Netreo.
  • Analyze key performance metrics like throughput, latency, jitter, and packet loss.
  • Configure dynamic path selection and load balancing to optimize network traffic flow.
  • Lead the diagnosis and troubleshooting of SD-WAN issues.
  • Utilize tools like Wireshark and SNMP analyzers for deep dive troubleshooting.
  • Provide root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the SD-WAN network.
  • Manage incident response and coordinate with IT teams for quick resolution.
  • Implement best practices for network security and compliance.
  • Develop and implement automation scripts using tools like Ansible and Python.
  • Collaborate with network architects to automate operational tasks.
  • Analyze network traffic trends and perform capacity planning.
  • Coordinate with SD-WAN vendors to ensure SLAs are met.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for SD-WAN configurations and procedures.
  • Generate regular performance reports for management.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in network operations, with at least 2 years in SD-WAN technologies.
  • Proficiency in network performance optimization and troubleshooting tools.
  • Strong understanding of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), MPLS, and WAN technologies.
  • Experience with network automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).
  • Familiarity with cloud networking environments and SD-WAN integration.
  • Strong problem-solving and incident response skills.
  • Experience with capacity planning and scalable SD-WAN solutions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or SD-WAN-specific certifications.
  • Experience with network automation frameworks like Python or Shell scripting.
  • Familiarity with cloud networking and multi-cloud SD-WAN integration strategies.
