About the position

The SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test) at HCA Healthcare is responsible for overseeing all aspects of application testing activities. This role involves building automated test cases using various programming languages and frameworks, leading test design and strategies, and collaborating with development teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle. The SDET will also engage in manual testing when necessary and help implement operational improvements in testing activities.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in development planning sessions with product analysts and development teams.
  • Define and implement operational and process improvement strategies for testing activities.
  • Build and maintain automated test scripts through the Selenium framework using programming languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, C#, etc.
  • Collaborate with the development team to understand new functionality and automate testing accordingly.
  • Maintain scheduled automations and follow test automation best practices.
  • Develop Agile testing strategies addressing database impacts, functional use cases, regression testing, and usability.
  • Oversee defect discovery, prevention, and tracking with the scrum team.
  • Execute manual testing when automation is not ideal.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field (preferred)
  • 3 or more years of relevant work experience
  • Functional knowledge of programming languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, C#, etc.
  • Functional knowledge of database management systems such as Oracle, DB2, SQL, Teradata, Couchbase, Mongo, Hadoop.
  • Practical knowledge of the Selenium Framework and API design best practices.
  • Understanding of the QA life cycle and different testing methodologies (Unit, Integration/System, Functional, Acceptance).
  • Experience with source code repositories such as Github, ADO, Bitbucket, Cloudsmith.
