About the position

The Nuclear Hardness & Survivability (NH&S)/Electromagnetic Environmental Effects Systems Engineering Department Manager 3 at Northrop Grumman is responsible for overseeing a department within the Systems Engineering organization. This role involves setting operational objectives, mentoring section managers, and providing oversight across multiple business areas to ensure successful program execution. The manager will lead a team of engineers, manage project performance, and address technical challenges while fostering talent development within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a department within the Systems Engineering organization and report to the SDS Systems Engineering Director.
  • Set operating objectives and provide mentorship to Functional Home Room Section Managers based on engineering goals and company policy.
  • Oversee multiple business areas within the division portfolio to ensure successful program achievement.
  • Manage planning, risk, project performance, schedule, and technical quality.
  • Assist engineers and program staff in talent development and retention.
  • Lead improvements in employee engagement, hiring, development, and training.
  • Support proposal work, technical reviews, program audits, and special assignments as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) with 8 years of related experience.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a formal management position.
  • Experience in developing, analyzing, and assessing systems for high-level electromagnetic environments.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, MIL-STD-1766.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree with 9 years of experience in STEM, preferably in Engineering.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
  • Proven performance as an Engineering Leader in acquisition, design, integration, and execution phases.
  • Experience with systems operating in nuclear environments and ICBMs.
  • Familiarity with Agile engineering and Jira.
