Seafood Processor

About the position

The Seafood Processor position at Silver Bay Seafoods involves various tasks within the production department, including butchering, sorting, filleting, and packing seafood products. The role requires physical stamina and adherence to safety protocols while working in a cold and wet environment. Processors are expected to maintain cleanliness and safety in the workspace and participate in plant clean-up as needed.

Responsibilities

• Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Clean, scrape, trim, and fillet seafood products.
• Open and remove raw materials and place them on conveyor belts.
• Segregate products on conveyor belts according to grade, color, and size.
• Gather, weigh, and tally roe baskets.
• Pack products in containers for storage or shipment.
• Review workspace for cleanliness and safety.
• Participate in plant clean-up activities.
• Communicate basic information in English and perform basic math operations.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent (HS).
• Ability to lift and move heavy items as specified.
• Basic communication skills in English.
• Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous seafood industry experience is a plus.
