About the position

The Sealer position at Spirit AeroSystems involves sealing and applying various compounds to major assemblies and sub-assemblies in the aerospace manufacturing process. The role requires precision and adherence to quality control standards while working from technical drawings and specifications. Employees will receive training to perform necessary job functions and support the continuous flow of production within the manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Seal, fillet and fay, cap seal, brush coat for major assemblies and sub-assemblies.
  • Apply scotchcast, leveling compound, aerodynamic seal and pressure test according to specifications.
  • Complete required data gathering transactions to facilitate sealer progression.
  • Perform pickup, rework, fabrication, change incorporation, functional testing or checks during or after final seal progression.
  • Use measuring instruments as required to accomplish work assignments.
  • Report and investigate job handicaps such as errors, assembly procedures, tools, sequences, etc.
  • Support the continuous flow of product by training, coaching, and assisting employees of all classification levels.
  • Document discrepancies according to specification, process, and procedure.
  • Temporarily attach parts and assemblies, install collars and other hardware not related to drilling or countersinking.
  • Perform visual and auditory leak checks in aircraft sections.

Requirements

  • Willingness and ability to work any shift, including alternative work weeks.
  • Must pass the WorkKeys Assessment or provide verification of passing.
  • Skill and knowledge to perform sealing functions including Aerodynamic seal, Integral Fuel Cell sealing, and small part sealing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with blueprints, changes, specifications, and work orders.
  • Familiarity with quality control requirements in manufacturing.
