About the position

The Seasonal Construction Inspector at RockSol Consulting Group is responsible for overseeing construction activities on assigned road construction projects. This role ensures compliance with project plans, specifications, and safety standards while maintaining positive relationships with various stakeholders. The inspector will document progress, quality, and safety, and will be involved in decision-making related to construction performance and contract compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a construction inspector for transportation projects, overseeing the construction of roads, highways, and bridges.
  • Review, inspect, test, and measure the work of contractors and consultants to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Recommend approval and payment for acceptable work or rejection of non-conforming work to the project engineer.
  • Maintain accurate daily records of construction site activities and produce required reports on progress, safety, quality, schedule, and budget status.
  • Analyze construction schedules using standard scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera.
  • Prepare documentation for contract change orders or modifications as requested by the project engineer.
  • Communicate project-related details and concerns to the project engineer in a timely manner.
  • Calculate and estimate quantities and costs of materials required for project phases.
  • Adhere to RockSol's internal Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Maintain assigned equipment and vehicles according to company procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in construction inspection or project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
  • Competent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous project management and/or inspection experience on DOT or FHWA road construction projects.
  • Current Professional Engineer license.
  • Construction materials testing experience.
