About the position

The Seasonal Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing field construction inspection activities for road construction projects. This role serves as a key liaison among project engineers, contractors, subconsultants, clients, and regulatory staff, ensuring quality assurance, safety standards, and adherence to project budgets. The Construction Manager will also produce accurate progress reports and ensure compliance with project plans and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Orchestrate, schedule, and supervise field construction inspection activities for designated road construction projects.
  • Serve as the construction project manager (owner's representative) for transportation projects, ensuring quality and safety in the construction of roads, highways, and bridges.
  • Review, inspect, test, and measure the work of contractors and consultants to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Recommend approval and payment for acceptable work or rejection of non-conforming work to the project engineer.
  • Maintain accurate daily records of construction site activities and produce required reports on progress, safety, quality, schedule, and budget status.
  • Analyze construction schedules using standard scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera.
  • Prepare documentation for contract change orders or modifications as requested by the project engineer.
  • Initiate timely communication of project-related details and concerns to the project engineer.
  • Calculate and estimate quantities and costs of materials required for project phases.
  • Adhere to RockSol's internal Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Maintain assigned equipment and vehicles according to company procedures.

Requirements

  • Mid-level project management experience in construction.
  • Proficiency in Primavera and Microsoft Project.
  • Professional Engineer license (preferred but not required).
  • Experience in construction management and inspection.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous project management and/or inspection experience on DOT or FHWA road construction projects.
  • Construction materials testing experience.
