About the position

As a Seasonal HR Specialist at Target, you will play a vital role in supporting the Human Resources function within our Global Supply Chain and Logistics business. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about fostering a positive workplace culture and ensuring that our team members are well-supported in their roles. You will be responsible for providing technical and administrative support to the HR team, which includes maintaining accurate employee records, managing employment orientation, and overseeing compensation and benefits administration. Your role will also involve supporting cyclical HR processes, managing workers' compensation claims, and ensuring compliance with federal and state employment regulations. In this position, you will interact with team members at various levels within the organization, as well as with external candidates. You will assist in staffing needs for the distribution center, ensuring that employee orientation is conducted smoothly and that all HR processes are executed in a timely manner. Your responsibilities will also include answering employee questions, escalating concerns to leadership when necessary, and ensuring that training programs are implemented effectively. You will be expected to work both independently and collaboratively, sharing ideas and adapting to changes in a fast-paced environment. As a Senior HR Specialist, you will be a strategic partner to leadership, providing guidance and support to help team members succeed. You will have the opportunity to positively impact the employee experience during organizational changes and will work closely with leaders to build effective teams that meet specific business goals. Your ability to maintain a positive and respectful attitude, along with your strong organizational and prioritization skills, will be essential in contributing to the overall success of the distribution center.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and administrative support to the HR team by maintaining employee records accurately.
  • Own the administration of employment orientation and ensure compliance with federal and state employment regulations.
  • Support the execution of cyclical HR processes, including workers' compensation and payroll management.
  • Assist with compensation and benefits programs, ensuring timely execution and adherence to record-keeping practices.
  • Ensure employee training programs are executed in a timely manner and maintain accurate records of regulatory and corporate trainings.
  • Answer employee questions and escalate concerns to leadership as appropriate.
  • Coordinate special projects, including building cyclical processes and new initiatives.
  • Work efficiently both individually and as part of a team, sharing ideas and adapting to change.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of administrative experience.
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, and computer systems (e.g., Excel, Word, O365).
  • Strong customer/client service skills with the ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbal) with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and escalate when appropriate, demonstrating strong prioritization and organization skills.
  • Ability to work with highly confidential information.
  • Ability to take initiative and make fair and consistent decisions that align with company strategy and values.
  • Ability to multi-task and be a flexible team player who can easily adapt to change.
