About the position

As a Seasonal HR Specialist at Target, you will play a vital role in supporting the Human Resources function within our Distribution and Receive Centers. This position is essential in ensuring that our teams are equipped to deliver exceptional service to our guests by managing the staffing needs of the distribution center. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate employee records, administering employment orientation, and supporting the execution of cyclical HR processes such as compensation and benefits administration, workers' compensation, and payroll. Your role will require you to interact with team members at various levels within the organization, as well as with external candidates, ensuring compliance with federal and state employment regulations and company policies throughout the employment lifecycle, including hiring, promotions, transfers, resignations, and terminations. In addition to these responsibilities, you will ensure that our compensation and benefits programs are executed in a timely manner, adhering to appropriate timekeeping and record-keeping practices. You will also assist with employee training programs, ensuring they are executed promptly and that accurate records of regulatory and corporate training are maintained. As a Senior HR Specialist, you will be a strategic partner to leadership, providing guidance and support to team members to help them succeed. You will also be involved in special projects, which may include coordinating cyclical processes and new initiatives, all while working efficiently both individually and as part of a team. Your ability to adapt to change, share ideas, and maintain a positive attitude will be crucial in contributing to the overall success of the distribution center.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate employee records and administration of employment orientation.
  • Support execution of cyclical HR processes including compensation and benefits administration, workers' compensation, and payroll.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state employment regulations and company policies throughout the employment lifecycle.
  • Assist with employee training programs and maintain accurate records of regulatory and corporate training.
  • Answer employee questions and escalate concerns to leadership as appropriate.
  • Coordinate special projects, including cyclical processes and new initiatives.
  • Work efficiently both individually and as part of a team, sharing ideas and adapting to change.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of administrative experience.
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, and computer systems (e.g., Excel, Word, O365).
  • Strong customer/client service skills with the ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and escalate when appropriate, demonstrating strong prioritization and organization skills.
  • Ability to work with highly confidential information.
  • Ability to take initiative and make fair and consistent decisions that align with company strategy and values.
  • Ability to multi-task and be a flexible team player who can easily adapt to change.
