About the position

As a Seasonal Operations Specialist at CHS, Inc., you will play a vital role in supporting the operations of our grain facility in Bertrand, NE, during the busy harvest season from September to November. This position offers both full-time and part-time hours, providing flexibility to accommodate various schedules. You will be part of a team that is dedicated to making a positive impact in the local community while working for the largest cooperative in the U.S. Your daily tasks will vary, ensuring that no two days are the same, and you will have the opportunity to engage with customers and contribute to the efficient operation of the facility. In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out general labor tasks as directed, which may include loading and unloading agricultural inputs from trucks, preparing trucks for loading/unloading, and maintaining the quality of inventory. You will also be expected to develop a thorough understanding of the commodities handled at the location and adhere to company policies and government regulations. Customer service is a key component of this position, and you will be required to interact with customers in a courteous and professional manner. Safety is a top priority at CHS, and you will be expected to promote a strong safety culture by following all safety policies and procedures. This includes conducting regular maintenance tasks, monitoring equipment for leaks or issues, and keeping work areas clean and orderly. You will also be responsible for reporting any safety concerns or maintenance needs to your supervisor promptly. Responsibilities

  • Carry out general labor responsibilities promptly and efficiently as directed.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the commodities handled at the location and comply with company policy and government regulations.
  • Work with customers in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Prepare trucks for loading/unloading, which may require sampling, loosening large nuts, opening hatches, and attaching and/or detaching flexible hoses.
  • Load and unload agricultural inputs from trucks using heavy or light duty machinery/equipment, including bulk and packaged material.
  • Control and monitor all load out functions.
  • Conduct and properly record daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks, including lubrication of pumps, valves, and loading arms, and inspect in-use equipment for leaks.
  • Monitor and maintain quality of inventory, including blended, bulk, or packaged products.
  • Keep all work areas clean, orderly, and safe, conducting regular housekeeping duties such as sweeping, shoveling, and cleaning up spills.
  • Perform grounds maintenance, including snow removal.
  • Promptly report any customer complaints, repair or maintenance needs, or safety concerns to the supervisor.
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned to ensure facility operations run smoothly and customers receive excellent service.

Requirements

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
