About the position

The Seasonal Registered Nurse (RN) position at LMH Health is a unique opportunity for individuals with multiple years of bedside nursing experience, particularly in Medical Surgical Units. This role is designed for a 16-week assignment, offering a flat hourly wage of $65, along with a completion bonus of $5,000. As an RN, you will provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols, while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations regarding patient information. This position requires effective decision-making skills to coordinate care for patients based on their healthcare needs and priorities. You will develop therapeutic relationships with patients and their families, promoting informed decision-making through thorough assessments of medical histories, symptoms, and treatment plans. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will communicate continuously with the clinical team, including physicians, to address patient needs and implement care plans. You will also assess and coordinate discharge planning needs, ensuring a seamless transition for patients. The RN will exemplify professionalism by engaging in lifelong learning, contributing to nursing science, and participating in governance to enhance best practices. This position requires a commitment to patient-centered care, utilizing evidence-based practices and safety protocols to achieve optimal health outcomes for patients.

Responsibilities

  • Develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families promoting decision making based on the assessment of patient medical histories, symptoms, examinations, diagnosis, conditions and treatments.
  • Communicate and collaborate concisely and continuously among clinical team, including physicians, both verbally and in documentation focusing on patients identified problems and needs by implementing and monitoring patient care plans, as well as recording and communicating patient conditions as appropriate, to optimize their health outcomes.
  • Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
  • Competently apply collaborative teamwork and leadership as a member of an inter-professional team to coordinate patient centered care for quality patient and unit outcomes of care processes by utilizing information, resources and technology.
  • Provide Patient Centered Care Nursing processes including Patient/Family, Evidence Based Practices (EBP), safety and process improvement.
  • Exemplify professionalism: apply lifelong learning; contribute to the science of nursing; participate in governance; share knowledge to expand the scale and scope of best practices with others; build the ethical, moral and regulatory base for best practices and processes of patient and unit care.
  • Perform nursing care according to the population served on the unit as referenced in the Administrative, Scope of Services Policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in line with current basic nursing scope.

Requirements

  • Associates in Nursing or diploma
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification; ACLS and PALS certifications may be required based on department, waiving the BLS requirement.
  • Current Registered Nurse license to practice in Kansas.
