About the position

The Seasonal Sales Associate at Petco plays a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the well-being of animals in the store. This part-time position focuses on assisting guests with their needs, maintaining store standards, and contributing to sales goals while fostering a welcoming environment for both pets and pet parents.

Responsibilities

• Provide optimal guest experience services.
• Assist guests in the proper selection of merchandise according to their identified needs.
• Demonstrate a high level of interest in the welfare, health, and proper handling of all animals.
• Perform cashiering duties and manage point-of-sale transactions.
• Ensure merchandise is properly stocked and priced.
• Adhere to established operational guidelines and store policies and procedures.
• Evaluate guest inquiries and refer to Guest Experience Leader or Leader on Duty as needed.
• Perform hourly animal health checks and maintain wellness cards for live animals.
• Interact professionally and effectively with all professional contacts.
• Provide prompt and courteous service to all Petco guests, employing suggestive selling techniques to increase sales.
• Assist in stocking and facing merchandise according to established standards.
• Perform routine housekeeping tasks to maintain the store's professional image.
• Assist store leadership in the opening/closing of the store as needed.

Requirements

• Experience in sales or customer service is preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and pull 2000 lbs utilizing material handling equipment.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Knowledge of pet care and nutrition is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
