About the position

The Seat Map Consultant at Southwest Airlines plays a crucial role in optimizing seat map capabilities for fare and ancillary products. This position is part of the Seat Map Strategy Team and is responsible for developing and managing strategies that maximize ticket revenue while balancing customer experience and operational objectives. The consultant will work closely with various teams to ensure effective implementation of seat map policies and enhancements as Southwest Airlines transitions to a new seating model in 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies, capabilities, and processes to meet seat map strategy objectives for the utilization of seats.
  • Oversee the development and launch of new policies, tactics, and capabilities to ensure long-term management of the seat map meets business needs.
  • Work closely with Revenue Management to optimize product pricing and implement effective pricing strategies for seating products.
  • Develop and maintain a ‘playbook' for tactics and decisioning through the booking curve related to seat availability.
  • Maintain a Customer view through the booking curve related to seating to support a competitive Customer experience.
  • Collaborate with Digital, Technology, and external vendors to ensure seat map Customer visualization aligns with product strategies.
  • Monitor product performance, track key metrics, and identify areas for improvement.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Advanced level experience in managing seat map or related capacity-constrained inventory to optimize output and revenue.
  • Experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives and aligning stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to develop strategies, plans, and solutions to address complex or ambiguous problems.
  • Knowledge of project management practices and ability to hold multiple delivery teams accountable.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in seat map optimization.
  • Experience in the airline industry, particularly in pricing capabilities.
  • Exposure to finance or product management.
