About the position

The Second Grade Teacher at Amanecer Elementary School is responsible for fostering the intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth of students in a safe and supportive environment. This role involves planning and implementing educational programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of students, assessing their progress, and collaborating with colleagues and parents to enhance the learning experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs and interests of students.
  • Establish curriculum objectives and develop a comprehensive plan for implementation and evaluation.
  • Create a conducive classroom environment appropriate for students' maturity and interests.
  • Guide the learning process toward achieving curriculum goals and communicate clear objectives to students.
  • Employ appropriate instructional methods and materials to meet stated objectives.
  • Regularly assess student accomplishments and provide progress reports as required.
  • Diagnose learning strengths and weaknesses of students and seek assistance from District specialists as needed.
  • Counsel with colleagues, students, and parents regularly.
  • Assist administration in implementing policies governing student life and conduct.
  • Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and maintain order in a fair manner.
  • Plan and supervise assignments for support personnel and school volunteers, evaluating their effectiveness.
  • Use appropriate technology in teaching and learning processes.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports as required by law and District policy.
  • Perform Medicaid administrative claims activities as directed.
  • Adhere to the Code of Ethics of the Education Profession in Florida.
  • Support school improvement initiatives by participating in school activities and programs.
  • Recognize indicators of student distress or abuse and take appropriate action.
  • Establish an appropriate testing environment and ensure test security.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid Florida teaching certificate or out-of-state teaching certificate covering appropriate area of responsibility.
  • Experience working with students.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Child Development Associate Certification.
  • Teaching ESL Certification.
