About the position

The Second Grade Teacher at San Carlos Park Elementary School is responsible for fostering the intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth of students in a safe and supportive environment. This role involves planning and implementing educational programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of students, assessing their progress, and collaborating with colleagues and parents to enhance the learning experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs and interests of students.
  • Establish curriculum objectives and develop a comprehensive plan for implementation and evaluation.
  • Create a conducive classroom environment appropriate for students' maturity and interests.
  • Guide the learning process toward achieving curriculum goals and communicate clear objectives to students.
  • Employ appropriate instructional methods and materials to meet stated objectives.
  • Regularly assess student accomplishments and provide progress reports as required.
  • Diagnose learning strengths and weaknesses of students and seek assistance from specialists as needed.
  • Counsel with colleagues, students, and parents regularly.
  • Assist administration in implementing policies governing student conduct and develop classroom behavior rules.
  • Plan and supervise assignments for support personnel and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Use appropriate technology in teaching and learning processes.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports as required by law and district policy.
  • Perform Medicaid administrative claims activities as directed.
  • Adhere to the Code of Ethics of the Education Profession in Florida and meet all school and district policy requirements.
  • Support school improvement initiatives by participating in school activities and programs.
  • Recognize indicators of student distress or abuse and take appropriate action.
  • Establish a secure testing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid Florida teaching certificate or out-of-state teaching certificate covering appropriate area of responsibility.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Relevant work experience or education may substitute for minimum qualifications.
